North London born Chilean-Scottish artist Eloisa Henderson-Figueroa is bringing her popular Creatives In The City event to Belsize Park. If you want to meet new people whilst making art, here’s your opportunity!
On Monday 22 June in the downstairs bar at The Washington Pub, Eloisa is hosting an evening for people who work in the creative industries, or who don’t but are open to having fun with art materials.
The plan is that everyone will sit around a big table and Eloisa will introduce art games which will make guests relax, enjoy and connect. “I’ve got many fun ideas to get people to chat with each other,” says Eloisa. “I bring along the paper, card, pens, stickers and tapes and we have a good time making collaborative art.” During the evening, guests can pop upstairs for drinks and food, and everything about the event is intended to be easy-going.

With a background in helping to make art shows for TV, and nowadays a popular mural artist transforming exterior and interior walls with her colourful geometric designs, Eloisa has the experience and confidence to show others how being creative, even for a couple of hours, can give freedom from stress and bring about happiness.
Eloisa’s creative events for grown-ups tap into a growing need for people to hang out in real time and lose the awkwardness that often comes with meeting strangers. She says, “It’s like an alternative networking experience. It’s not important how the art turns out – what matters is that everyone has a memorable time.”

Eloisa is also helping Amelia Rivers to run The Fun Fed at The Winch on Winchester Road every Tuesday evening from 7–8.30pm.
The Fun Fed workshops are intended to encourage adults to play because as Eloisa explains, “trying something new whilst having fun, allowing yourself to be silly, will absolutely make you feel better.” Each week there’s a different professional facilitator bringing improvisation games, singing, beat boxing and drumming workshops, dancing, comedy classes and more.

On average there’s about 12 people per session but some of the workshops host up to 25 people. And afterwards there’s usually a group going to The Washington for drinks. “People come to the Fun Fed events, sometimes knackered from work, and they have the best time,” says Eloisa. “Amelia and I have set up the atmosphere so that there’s constantly laughter.”
