With Sundays often being a day off, I like to do some fun shopping. I also feel better for a walk in nature so the award winning Bootyfull Car Boot Sale in the William Ellis School playground from 11am-2pm is my go-to destination, via Parliament Hill Park.
I love that at the Bootyfull Car Boot there are more than enough sellers. The largeness of this flea market means there’s no waiting your turn to check out clothes rails and you can take time to enjoy the fascinating mix of items which sellers put on their tables and display from the back of their cars – although you also don’t need to have a car to get a pitch.
Since I’ve been going to the Bootyfull market – originally it was near Gospel Oak station – I’ve been coming home with all sorts of things I actually need, such as bits and pieces for arts and crafts, kitchen items and brand new clothes (although mostly it’s pre-loved clothes in good condition).

I’ve also bought my share of items I can’t resist such as jewellery, designer accessories and nostalgia or vintage (might be worth something one day?) Three times I’ve bought well-made never worn shoes which happened to be in my size. Oh, the buzz of an unexpected, personally perfect bargain!
Even when I only spend a little – maybe a reading book, family board game and one more thing all for about £5 – I still have a good time. The sellers, who come from across London, are laid back and friendly. They seem to appreciate that some people want to quietly browse and others to chit chat. There are hot drinks available on site and for the mother of cheese toasties, with or without ham, Bootyfull will deliver!

The Bootyfull Car Boot Sale is in the William Ellis School playground on Highgate Road.
No dogs allowed. £1 entry fee.
