With a background in pathology and internal medicine, in 2024 Dr Marcus Turner founded Heath Clinic which is based at BodyMatters Clinic, by Belsize Lane. Having previously worked for the NHS and in aesthetics for five years, opening his own clinic was a natural evolution.
Dr Turner has built a practice that extends well beyond Belsize Park. He draws patients in from Oxfordshire, Lincolnshire and Bath; in part, due to his use of treatments which typically combine device-based, modern laser treatments and injectable biostimulators such as Julaine. He aims to achieve natural results focused on skin health and longevity rather than using Botox and Dermal filler in isolation.
Speaking with him about his practice confirms what I already knew as a patient myself – Dr Turner is well-versed in the science supporting his treatments. He’s happy to explain in detail how each one works, citing the research that support his recommendations.
“Think of your skin structure like a bed,” says Turner. “The bones are the frame, the fat is the mattress, and the top layer of skin is the duvet.” Dr Turner looks at every layer but prioritizes skin health and structure.
He recommends daily application of a high-quality SPF, all year round, even indoors where lights from screens can be problematic. “Evidence has shown that blue light from daily screen use increases the production of free radicals and enzymes which break down collagen and accelerates aging.”
Turner’s dedication helps him to stay ahead of the curve as new treatments emerge. London, he says, is first to signal a shift in cosmetic trends across the country, and areas like Belsize Park – with its many professional residents – lead the way within it.
As for the neighbourhood itself, Dr Turner is a fan. “Such a lovely group of people around here. I often meet residents who become cheerleaders for local businesses in a community well-worth protecting.”
